One in a series of Levittown pieces, Dogwood Hollow depicts a section of William Levitt’s many subdivisions. Billed as “America’s most perfectly planned communities,” Levittown’s four incarnations contained many noteworthy advances: novel building methods, attractive financial options, and innovative planning patterns. Nonetheless, the developments quickly became noted for their cookie cutter houses, preordained and stifling choices, and racial exclusivity.
