Overlay
2011, plywood, laminate, cement
126" x 94" x 92"
Site-specific installation at Dorsky Gallery Curatorial Projects, Long Island City, NY
Sept-Nov 2011

Overlay presents a fictional world that calls attention to a real site. Thousands of small blocks that simulate buildings cover two brightly colored pallets and crawl across the walls. While specifically referencing the redevelopment of Dumbo, Brooklyn, Overlay more generally explores the changeability of urban space: the adaptations, erasures, and collisions of construction.
